I still am not sure why the locking mechanism would lock, but not open back up. I followed the instructions down to each word and it never opened and shut correctly. Immediately after placing the gate opener on the fence, it was evident it was not going to work correctly. It was not until after I received the gate opener and tried to install that I could tell I was going to have a problem. Up until this point, all of my interactions with the company were good. After researching the company and a little more about the product, I decided to make the purchase. This system cost me exactly $1,472.88 and I was told it was what would work best for me. He advised me which type of gate opener I should purchase for a vinyl fence which was the "TDS2 PREPROGRAM BUNDLE-Heavy Duty Automatic Gate Opener Kit for Dual Tube Gates.â I was sold every accessory including the automatic sensor and the solar panel to charge the battery. I purchased my Ghost Control system directly from the Ghost Control website shortly after speaking with the sales representative. You can also send us some photos or a video of your gate to and to you, It sounds like this feature is kicking in during operation of your gate so it could be either the geometry of your installation is off or potentially the hinges in your gate may not be aligned and are binding during movement. This feature will automatically slow your gate down if it meets some resistance while moving the gate. We are sorry to hear about your bad experiences and would love to help get your situation resolved. This product is faulty and my experience was horrible. In short, don't waste your money or time. I had to hire an electrician who has installed dozens of gate systems and he could not get this gate to function properly either. When I called the "urgent" line, I got sent to the main switch board (phone tree) and the wait time is ridiculous. Finally I got a phone call that I couldn't take immediately. I could not get them to respond to phone or email. After beating my head against the wall for two days I called the help line. The one time it did operate correctly, right after it lost its programming. The gate openers speed varied, sometimes fast, sometimes slow. The gate openers could not be programmed to consistently open or close. Also, the speed of the gates was erratic. The gate would not respond to the jog buttons consistently, sometimes they did, sometimes they didn't. Followed all instructions and it simply doesn't work consistently. The problems started while programming the set points for open and close. The installation manual and online videos via YouTube were very helpful. We bought the heavy duty dual gate openers. We have dual gates at the end of our driveway. Glad I purchased these arms as I get questions all the time about my experience with this brand of gate openers. Just wanted to leave a positive comment for a change for a great customer service experience. I re-installed the arm and now the gates are working like new. Without hesitation he sent me a new arm because the second arm was believed to be defective. I then contacted the customer support and spoke to a gentleman(can't remember his name to save my life) he instructed me to put the system through a series of tests. I did all of the troubleshooting that I could find online. When I went to reconnect the gates the operation was not as seamless as it was before. So I disconnected them for a point of about 3 weeks. My gate worked perfect for about 11 months, until the winter storm came through and iced my arms over to the point that they would not operate. I later order the wireless vehicle sensor that seamlessly added to my system without any complications. The arm arrived and I installed it in a matter of minutes thanks to the helpful videos and youtube searches. I purchased a 2 gate controller system last year before the pandemic because I was home everyday with nothing but projects to complete.
